Art and Jan Sullivan and their three boys Shawn, Shannon and Jeremy, have kept their faith in God never wavering. Art and Jan founded three churches and served in five additional churches over a period of 49 years. The tragedies they went through were more than enough to destroy any marriage and family. God's love, their love, and devotion for one another and their children, have brought them through every trial. Art's mother Dorothy was a devoted and dedicated Christian. Art's early recollections of his childhood are, his mother and grandmother taking him down the steps of the First Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Sunday School. Dorothy passed away suddenly when Art was 15. His father told him one night in front of Art's best friend "you go your way and I'll go mine." He lived with friends, a cousin from time to time and went into the service when he turned 17. He lived a life void of God but when he returned to Albuquerque from the service, God brought Janice Elliott into his life. Jan through her faith in God changed the direction of his life forever. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Art and Jan began their journey through this life together when they were married by pastor J. C. Goldman at Temple Baptist Church, on Tuesday evening October 20,1964. Little did they know what the future held. They were married for four years and God blessed them with their first son Shawn Sullivan. Then after serving five years in their home church, God called Art into the ministry. They moved to Springfield Mo. and enrolled in Baptist Bible College. God blessed them with their second son, Shannon Sullivan while there. Art graduated in 1972 and the Lord led them to New England. Art served as asst. pastor and asst. principal and Jan was the secretary for New Testament Baptist Church and Christian School in Norton Mass. God led them next to East Greenwich, Rhode Island where they founded Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Then to Reno, Nevada where they founded Faith Baptist Church and Christian school. Art had the privilege of leading a young couple Dan and Judy Frank to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They served as youth leaders and Dan served as asst. pastor. Dan became pastor when Art resigned and the family moved back to their home church, where art taught in the christian school and coached the high school football team. The family moved to California in 1984 The purpose in writing this book, is to help the reader understand that no matter what the circumstances, no matter how painful the experience, no matter how deep the agony and sorrow, God, by faith, will bring you through all of the Fiery Trials and Testings in life.
